Otero Engineering is an established civil engineering firm focused on land development projects throughout the Tampa Bay region. We are a small, collaborative team where engineers remain actively involved in projects and work directly with clients, agencies, and firm leadership. Our projects include commercial, residential, industrial, municipal, and mixed-use developments.

We are seeking a Florida-licensed Professional Engineer to lead land development projects from due diligence through construction. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys project ownership, client interaction, technical oversight, and mentoring staff while remaining actively engaged in the engineering process.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as Engineer of Record on land development projects

• Lead projects from due diligence and concept planning through permitting and construction

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, utility providers, and consultants

• Guide project teams and review work prepared by engineers and designers

• Oversee grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater design efforts

• Prepare and review engineering reports, calculations, permit applications, and agency responses

• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and overall project delivery

• Coordinate directly with reviewing agencies and drive projects to successful permit approval

• Mentor and support the development of junior engineering and design staff

• Deliver practical, technically sound, and buildable engineering solutions that meet client objectives

 

What You’ll Bring

• Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required

• 6+ years of land development experience

• Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record preferred

• Experience managing projects through permitting and construction

• Experience with stormwater management, grading, hydraulics, and utility design

• Familiarity with Tampa Bay permitting agencies and Florida land development processes preferred

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects independently while working collaboratively within a team environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
